Community Health Screening: ADPE Tests Over 500 People for Diabetes, Hepatitis and HIV

September 22, 2026 • adperw

ADPE recently completed a large-scale community health screening event in Huye District, offering free testing for diabetes, hepatitis B and C, hypertension, and HIV to over 500 community members.

The event, organized in partnership with Kabutare District Hospital and the Rwanda Biomedical Centre (RBC), saw long queues of residents eager to know their health status — many for the first time.

“Many people in our communities do not know they are living with these conditions,” explained ADPE Secretary Ezechias RUSESABAHIZI. “Early detection saves lives. Our job is to make that possible.”

Community members who tested positive were connected with health facilities and support services. Health education sessions on nutrition, hygiene, and disease prevention were also held throughout the day.

This screening is part of ADPE’s ongoing Global Health Support and Assistance programme, one of the organization’s founding pillars since 2021. ADPE welcomes partnerships with health organizations to expand these events across the Southern Province.
